InterTech Installs a Second Wind Turbine

August 1st, 2011

Building on the success of the first wind turbine – christened ‘Wilma’ – InterTech has installed a second unit. This turbine is equipped with an 18 metre mast; the first one currently has a 15 metre mast but it is expected that this will be upgraded.

The second turbine – christened ‘Fred’, naturally – has a total overall height of 24 metres (18m mast + 6m turbine rotor). It is currently being used for testing wind speeds and for collecting turbine performance data at the Humber estuary location. This data will help with building up a history of wind strengths and directions for use in developing the micro-turbine wind farm on the land adjacent to the InterTech site.
